Happy New Year … An Acrostic
Heres to
a real
plan for
peace in this
year to come,
not more of the
enmity and loss
we’ve had as we
yearn for the
end to war
and hope Peace on Earth will be
restored once again.

Happy New Year!
Happy New Year, thee we welcome,
After blessings of the past;
Peace we pray thee still to give us;
Pardon through that love so vast—
Yes, while fleeting time shall last.
New, but as the ones before thee;
Every year is fraught with care —
Weighty crosses all should bear.
Year so solemn, as the message
Echoes in the sinner’s ear;
All, with courage, urge it forward !
Rally with the opening year.
This acrostic poem, published in the January 2, 1883 issue of the Review and written by Adelbert A. John during his first year as an Adventist missionary to England.
Happy New Year
(rhyming acrostic 2013)
Happy are those who can let go of the past
And look to the New Year with joy that will last
Past mistakes forgiven, we join in the song
Positively uplifting one another along
Yes it’s time once again to strive to unite
Now let us all go forth and walk in the light
Emerging from chaos and the stuff of strife
Whatever it takes, let us start a new life
Yesterday has become a dim memory
Every heart yearns to change the course of history
A time for reflection as the old year ends
Rejoice as former foes have now become friends
